EIC (Electrical Installation Certificate) Relevance in TCW
By default in TCW an EIC can only negatively affect a property, only an EICR can automatically make a property compliant. When an EIC is uploaded after an EICR, both will be relevant, however the EIC will only affect the property negatively.
This is because TCW can’t be 100% certain the EIC is a full assessment of an installation, so as a precaution, it will not automatically make a property compliant if there are no advisories/failures.
This is similar to how a Minor Works document functions in TCW.
That said, there are situations where this is not the case and an EIC can positively affect a property..
On the more recent EIC, the purpose of the report states:
"whole installation at new build"
“whole electrical installation - installed to builders design and specification"
OR any two of the below are entered
"new"
"change"
"replacement of"
"change of"
"upgrade only"
"upgrade of
"db",
"d.b",
"c.u",
"consumer unit",
"distribution board",
"distro board"
for example 'change db', 'upgrade of consumer unit'
This will also create the TAG Purpose:Replace Consumer Unit
OR one of the below is stated:
“full rewire"
"complete rewire"
This will also create the TAG Purpose:Rewire
Regarding the EIC/EICR next inspection date/recommended retest - TCW will always take EICR unless the more recent EIC contains the above phrases in the purpose of the report.
